Instructions for Clear-Vax set 33

Clear-Vax set 33: Imperial Japanese Naval Air Force (1/48 scale)

1. Mitsubishi A6M Zero. Suggested kits: Hasegawa A6M2 & A6M3.: The Clear-Vax canopy is intended for display in the open position.
Suggested references: Aerodetail 7; Famous Airplanes of the World No.5 (Bunrin-Do); Squadron/Signal A6M Zero In Action No.59.

2. Yokosuka K5Y "Willow". Suggested kits: Arii/Otaki K5Y1 & K5Y2.: The Clear-Vax windshields directly replace the kit items. Note that the larger windshield fits at the front.

3. Kyushu J7W1 Shinden. Suggested kit: Hasegawa J7W1.: The Clear-Vax canopy is intended for display in the open position. Build a canopy rail from thin plastic card and fit using the drawing as a guide.

4. Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden-Kai "George". Suggested kit: Hasegawa N1K2-J.: The Clear-Vax canopy is intended for display in the open position.

5. Kawanishi N1K1/N1K2'. Suggested kit: Fine Molds A5M2.: The Clear-Vax windshield directly replaces the kit item.

6. Mitsubishi F1M2 "Pete". Suggested kit: Tamiya F1M2.: The Clear-Vax canopies directly replace the kit parts.

7. Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden "Jack". Suggested kit: Hasegawa J2M3.: The Clear-Vax canopy is intended for display in the open position. From thin plasticard, fabricate and fit the area marked X on the drawing.

8. Nakajima B5N2 "Kate". Suggested kit: Nichimo B5N2.: The Clear-Vax canopy directly replaces the kit item.

10. Aichi D3A1 "Val". Suggested kit: Fujimi D3A1.: The Clear-Vax canopies are designed to overlap each other from front to rear. Note that there is no frame line running across the rearmost section. It is shown on the drawing, but not all aircraft carried it; add it if necessary.

11. Mitsubishi A6M2-K Zero 2-seat trainer. Suggested kit: Hasegawa A6M2.: The windscreen fits in place without modification. After separating the rear canopy from its base, test fit it using the panel line marked X as a guideline. Some thinning on the inside of the base will be required for best fit. Cut away the kit fuselage in the area of the rear sliding section. The rear interior will need to be made from spare parts or scratch built. Build the anti-spin strakes (marked Y) from thin plasticard and fit as marked on the drawing.
